Is it a Secret?

Just yesterday, one person who asked about my writing followed up with a litany of negative thoughts on their own aging. (Me: Actually, I think a lot of those have been passed down to you through the culture ...)

Another told me, “OK, I’ll try not to say ‘old’ around you.’” (Me: Actually, there’s nothing wrong with saying “old,” or with being old ...)

And a third said, “‘Age is awareness?’ That’s Interesting.” (Me: Actually, it’s “ageism awareness.” Have you heard the word “ageism” before?)

It’s surprising how many people don’t know much about an important topic that affects us all.
