Longer Lives

A long highway headed toward a blue sky with wispy clouds and a bright sun

In case you haven’t heard that people with positive views on aging live an average of 7.5 years longer than people with negative views, here’s a lightning-fast glance at the research.

Years ago, a decades-long study in Oxford, Ohio, periodically asked people a slew of questions about their lives, attitudes, and thoughts on aging.

Years later, a group of researchers from Yale compared the study subjects’ views on aging to how long they lived. That’s when they found the 7.5-year bonus.

One hundred words clearly can’t do this research justice—check out Becca Levy’s “Breaking the Age Code” for more.
