No Thanks, Officer
Today I heard the phrase “He drives like a little old lady.” The driver in question nodded his head and agreed—and I said something about how it’s better than paying for (expensive) traffic tickets.
Later, however, I considered how people use that phrase as if it symbolizes being ridiculous—when they’re actually talking about being cautious. So if it happens again, I’m ready.
“You mean he drives like a careful person who doesn’t want to get into accidents, scare pedestrians, or spent time talking with the police?”
Or maybe I’ll go with the shorter version: “Sounds wise to me.”
