With Dignity

In my parents’ final days, my sisters and I had the good fortune to be caregivers. We remember that family experience fondly—helping Dad, then Mom; working to maintain their dignity (and our own); and always keeping up the whacky sense of humor we all inherited.

Of course, not every family caregiver is as fortunate as we were. But each has an important, honorable job—one that sometimes goes on for a long time, under difficult circumstances.

If you know a family caregiver, please let them know how appreciated they are.

And if it’s you, happy National Family Caregivers Month.
