A Puzzling Perk

Several question marks, cut out of paper and placed on paper thought bubbles and speech bubbles

On YouTube, I saw an interview with two professionals who are blind. One had been blind from birth, and the other lost her eyesight later in life.

Among the questions they were asked was: What do you consider some perks of being blind?

One mentioned being less judgmental, because it’s impossible to base any assumptions on people’s appearances.

And yet, they both mentioned the “perk” of “not watching people age”— themselves or others.

Isn’t that interesting? Two people who don’t rely on physical appearances had still absorbed the cultural obsession with “not looking old.”

It boggles the mind.
