Hmm, Too Capable?
Robert Half has reportedly fixed their latest gaff, but it’s still worth discussing/exposing as a cautionary tale. The offense: A job posting for a “mid-career” executive assistant that specifically stated, “not a 30 year EA veteran.”
Obviously, there are no skills a mid-career person has that someone with 30 years’ experience couldn’t also possess. Clearly, it’s a blatant attempt to say, “We don’t want you if you’re older.”
What could their argument be? Pay scale? Malarky. The organization sets the range. Promotion plans? Well, the younger the employee, the less likely they are to stick around.
C’mon, recruiters—let’s #StopAgeism
