Kid-Unfriendly?
Is this headline skewing toward ageism? “Meta fires employees for spending food allowances on personal items like acne pads and wine glasses.”
Citing acne pads seems to suggest younger people, and it struck me: maybe the goal was to invoke some those-spoiled-rotten-Meta-kids disapproval. (The reporter also focused on big salaries and perks.)
The only ill-gotten gains mentioned in the article were those pads and glasses, plus laundry detergent—so maybe there wasn’t much for the headline-writer to choose from.
Perhaps I’m super-sensitive and there’s nothing to it. And yet … it’s smart to be skeptical when reading the news.
