In her late 50s, Helen Hirsch Spence was hiking 20,000 feet above sea level when she decided to make some big life changes and embrace age with a longevity mindset.

Fifteen years later, those six words became the title of a talk she delivered at TEDxKanata in Ottawa, Ontario, this past May.

In 12 meaningful minutes, Spence recommends taking advantage of our increased life expectancy and understanding the unique strengths we develop in the extra years we’re likely to live.

Our chronological age doesn’t define us, she reminds us.

And yet … Those years beyond 60 are some of the best.
