There are people who aren’t sober but know that, if all goes well, they’re headed that direction. Early, however, they look at that distant future and think, “Sounds awful.”

Fortunately, the community knows what to do: Help them understand, gently, that there’s green grass on the far side of the fence. Remind them not to preemptively judge it.

Put some focus on the surprising rewards that await.
