Many Hands
The first time I noticed the power of intergenerational living, my son was eight months old and my family came to visit. I couldn’t believe how much we could do with all those hands on deck.
One afternoon, my niece and nephew entertained the baby, my mother supervised their safety, two sisters made dinner, and another handled some ironing while I did laundry.
Whenever I think about age integration—living in a culture where people of all ages work and learn cooperatively—I think about how marvelously that system worked.
If possible, I hope your holidays include some of that.
