Thanks from Everyone

Someone suggested on LinkedIn that a thank-you note is an excellent follow-up to an interview—and that’s great advice.

But when they went on to say, “Most of those doing the hiring will not expect this as they’re typically Gen X or Millenials,” my ageism antennae went up.

It felt dismissive, as if people in a certain age range know little about business etiquette and are easily impressed.

In truth, we all know people of various ages who send thank-you notes and people of various ages who don’t.

Plus, any stereotype is inaccurate, and generation names are no exception.
