But Would You, Really?

A road sign pointing two directions, left and right.

People often say they wish they could be younger. If I were just 23 again…

But when I ask, Given the chance, would you really go back? … I get one of two answers:

No way, or

Only if I could take my hard-earned knowledge with me.

When we actually dig in and think about what’s important, we realize how much we’ve gained over time. How experience stacks up against things-we’ve-romanticized-about-youth. Even “beauty”—whatever that is.

What if we could remember this more often, and stop pretending to wish we were something we’re not?

That would be truly beautiful.
