Sparking Creativity
In the workplace, people often say—openly—that younger employees are more “innovative,” and “creative,” and “full of energy.”
But how innovative/creative/energetic do you feel—and if there’s an objective measure, how innovative/creative/energetic are you—when you’re hearing, day after day, that these words apply to someone else? That if you can’t be described as “younger,” these capabilities don’t belong to you?
On the other hand, how would we all respond if we were constantly hearing, “Our employees are creative.” “I really want your opinion on this, because you’re so innovative”?
Let’s try talking this way, and see what happens.
