Don’t Get Cute with Me

There are lots of stock photos with older adults lifting weights or doing yoga or using technology—and smiling happily at the camera, or sporting charming, eager-to-please expressions.

But I don’t see as many photos like that with younger adults—especially younger men. The message seems to be that younger people can be serious, but older people are not.

There’s a movement to get more photos out there that feature older adults doing real, dynamic, adult things—and this is a wonderful step in the right direction. And I’d love to see less cuteness.

 Older adults can be badass, too.
