Jolly Holiday

Dick Van Dyke, laughing and holding a microphone

Dick Van Dyke turns 99 this month and was recently honored in a music video by Coldplay. The official version comes out on December 13th—Van Dyke’s birthday—but the director’s cut is on YouTube now.

In it, Chris Martin sings a song about long-lasting love while Van Dyke croons a little, dances barefoot, jokes a bit, and talks about his family. He also offers an insightful definition of “love”—and mentions being unafraid that he could “go any day now” in a straightforward and thoughtful way.

For my family, I’ll be sharing it on Christmas.

Right after Mary Poppins.
