No Shame

A quick break from ageism today (sort of) with a reminder that it’s Girl Scout Cookie season. Which means it’s Please Don’t Poison Young Girls’ Minds With Talk About Your Body Shame At The Cookie Booth season, too.

Last year, I posted (a long piece) on the many similarities between diet-culture toxicity and youth-culture poison.

For example, sending the message, “We’re only loveable if we’re thin,” has similar affects to saying, “We’re only valuable when we’re young.” And both start their damage in childhood.

Another similarity: It takes thought; it takes work—but we can help these maladies end.
