Tale of Two Portlands
Portland, Oregon, was famously named after Portland, Maine, in a coin toss in 1845.
Now Oregon is following in Maine’s footsteps again—proudly—as the first state to adopt and adapt a program called Leadership Exchange on Ageism, developed and shared by the Maine Council on Aging.
Thanks to the hard work, dedication and leadership of Stephanie Hooper and Lori Silverman of Oregon’s Age+, the first Oregon-based LEA cohort is about to begin. I get to be one of the facilitators, along with Don Harden, an OG from “the other Portland.”
The movement is underway. Is your state next?
